Background
Carlton Hotel Singapore is an elegant and modern 4-star hotel located in the heart of downtown Singapore, surrounded by entertainment, attractions, restaurants, and food halls with infinite choices of Singaporean delicacies. My partner and I came to visit in January 2023. We booked this hotel on booking.com as it was one of the most valued-pick for us out of the other hotels in the city.

Where is it?
The hotel is located in Singapore’s business district. It is in the centre of the city and each turn you make takes you to a different cultural experience of Singapore. Across the street from the hotel is the Raffles City Shopping Mall, and nearby attractions include the Clarke Quay, Little Malay, and Chinatown neighbourhoods. The famous Marina Bay Sands Hotel is a short 24-minute walk away, but if it gets too hot, the City Hall MRT station is only a 4-minute walk from the hotel.
What’s it like?
The exterior of Carlton Hotel Singapore is quite grand, with a massive roundabout for guest pick up and drop offs. The hotel looks simple and modern, making a statement as it sits on the corner of a big intersection. Once you walk in, the interior is spacious with a huge waiting area and many available check-in desks to serve guests efficiently.
The rooms
The hotel features 940 rooms, including suites, and we stayed in the Deluxe Double room, which was very spacious with lots of space to set our things down and walk around. The room had a one-person working desk and a comfortable lounge chair to relax on. The washroom was quite spacious with a shower and soaking tub. It was unfortunate that the soaking tub’s water temperature was perfect, but the shower water temperature was only lukewarm. Personally, I love taking hot showers so this was quite disappointing.
Amenities
To us, Carlton Hotel Singapore has one of the best and most well-equipped hotel gyms we have stayed at. There is also a gym attendant who is always present to support us if needed with anything at the gym. Right beside the gym is the outdoor pool which was gorgeous, surrounded by lounge chairs with a good view of the city.
Food and beverage
There are quite a few dining options at the hotel if guests would like to stay in as the weather can get very hot at peak times. The hotel has an international buffet, an award-winning Cantonese restaurant, a Michelin star Japanese sushi restaurant, and a cafe patisserie. Unfortunately, we did not get to try any of the restaurants at the hotel as we opted to explore more local cuisines in our hotel’s neighbourhood.
It is worth mentioning that one of my most memorable meals was at Singapore Coffee, where I had the juiciest and tastiest Hainan chicken lunch, which is just across the street from Carlton Hotel Singapore!

Carlton Hotel Singapore is an excellent option for those looking to stay in a modern and elegant hotel in the heart of Singapore’s bustling downtown area. As things can get expensive in Singapore, this hotel was worth it and we left agreeing that it was a good value pick for the price. We stayed here for 5 days and would recommend others to stay here for the convenience. With its spacious rooms, well-equipped gym, gorgeous outdoor pool, and dining options, the hotel offers everything that guests need for a comfortable and affordable stay in Singapore.
