Background
Silks Place Tainan is a 5-star hotel that opened its doors in 2014 in the heart of Tainan. It is part of the prestigious FIH Regent Group and is one of the best hotels in Tainan, Taiwan. We had the opportunity to stay at the hotel in November 2022 with some family and friends while traveling Tainan.

Where is it?
Silks Place Tainan is located in Tainan’s West Central District. The hotel is walking distance to a variety of activities for different types of travellers such as the Tainan Art Museum, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store, and unlimited options of Tainan food delicacies! The younger adults of our group absolutely loved that a karaoke bar was right next door. Travellers typically take the High-Speed Rail (HSR) when visiting Tainan, and the Tainan HSR Station is a short 25-minute drive away.
What’s it like?
As the hotel is not brand new, we could see some wear and tear of the hotel’s exterior as we arrived. The hotel has a warm interior with soft natural lighting and a spacious lobby with beautiful high ceilings. Once we entered, the design was modern with small details of traditional Taiwan and Japanese elements such as a Taiko drum placed nicely at the centre of the entrance. The check-in process was fast, and there was a lot of seating area, which allowed our group to sit back and relax while we sorted out our check-in details.
The rooms
Silks Place Tainan has 255 rooms, and we stayed in the Deluxe King Room. The room was very spacious, with a reading nook that stretched across the room. It also came with a small table and chair, which although not designed to function as a desk working space, was still comfortable for us to do some work at. The washroom had an open concept design equipped with a soaking tub (and bath salts!), spacious sink, and a shower.
Amenities
The hotel offers a wide range of amenities such as a well-equipped gym, a stunning outdoor pool in the center of the building with lounge chairs, and a children’s play area. Something unique that this hotel offers is a library, which is designed to be vintage inspired by the nearby Tainan Confucian Temple. It is a great place to sit down with a book, get some work done, and explore the collection this library offers. My partner and I really enjoyed this space as it was a nice change from working in hotel rooms.
Food and beverage
Another impressive aspect of this hotel is the huge variety of dining options. We didn’t get to try all the dining options, but some of the restaurants are Robin’s Grill (seafood and steakhouse), Robin’s Teppanyaki (Japanese cuisine), Silks House (Chinese cuisine), Way Back Soiree (Chinese cuisine with regular live performances), and Infinity (a specialized restaurant that focuses on the chef’s skills and pairings). Other casual dining options include a bakery and an artisanal coffee bar.
Where the pool is located is the hotel’s bar, Glass House, and our group thoroughly enjoyed our time here watching a soccer match on their large screen into the night where it was more intimate and lively. We tried one of their drink specials, which is a massive tea set shooter that pairs traditional Tainan-style teas or fruit teas with local spirits. Some were extremely tasty, and I had no idea tea could mask the taste of alcohol so well.

Silks Place Tainan is the perfect hotel for any vacation. Regardless of the age group, this hotel has something to offer to everyone. The amenities and dining options are well-suited for kids, young adults, and elders. During our stay, we came as a group and were highly impressed with the hotel’s ability to cater to our every need.
Silks Place Tainan not only met but exceeded our expectations, and we highly recommend it. Some may argue that there are plenty of things to do and eat in Tainan for 4000 NTD, but for us, experiencing the luxury of a 5-star hotel at such an affordable price was a highlight of our trip.
Unique Highlight
Something my partner and I really enjoyed was that the hotel provided moisturizing eye and face masks as free toiletries! A small but thoughtful gesture that you don’t typically find in other 5-star hotels. This shows they truly want you to feel relaxed and serene when staying at Silks Place Tainan.
