Background
We had an extended stay of two weeks at the Royal Rose Hotel Shuang Cheng Hall in Taipei in October 2022. We found the hotel to be very affordable and equipped with all the necessary amenities, including a casual restaurant, laundry machine, and daily housekeeping.

Where is it?
The Royal Rose Hotel Shuang Cheng Hall is situated in the lively Zhongshan district of Taipei, which is home to a variety of culinary restaurants ranging from street vendors to fine dining options. It offers an elevated local experience compared to other districts. A local favourite night market in the area, Ningxia Night Market is a 23-minute walk from the hotel. Royal Rose Hotel Shuangcheng Hall is just a 13-minute walk from Yuanshan station, which is part of the main MRT Tamsui-Xinyi Line.
What’s it like?
The Royal Rose Hotel Shuang Cheng Hall is clean, cozy, and boasts a pleasant décor. The staff is friendly, and the hotel is located in a quiet neighbourhood, making it an ideal place to relax after a long day of exploring.
The rooms
During our stay, we had 3 guests so we booked a Family Room, which was equipped with two double beds, a spacious washroom, a small desk space, and a one-person reading nook. We booked the room through Booking.com and as a Genius level 3 member, we are eligible for an additional 5-20% discount on certain bookings. While the room had everything we needed, there was minimal wandering space after all our luggages were opened.
Amenities
The hotel did not have any specific amenities besides the check-in area and a small quiet reading area. However, as it appeared to be a common extended stay hotel for tourists, a coin laundry service was available for guests. The front desk even provided detergent free of charge, which was a great perk as we were traveling in Taiwan for five weeks.
Food and beverage
The hotel did not have any specific food and beverage service. However, there was a local restaurant connected to the hotel, which was packed with happy local customers having small dinners or big celebrations every night. I have no doubt it is a fan favourite in the neighbourhood!
What we enjoyed the most is having a convenient store just around the corner of the hotel. Convenient stores in Taiwan open 24 hours a day and this allowed us to purchase anything we needed at anytime of the day.

While the hotel did not offer exceptional service or amenities, I found it to be incredibly comfortable, convenient, and clean, making it an excellent value for the price. If we ever return to Taipei for an extended period of time, we would definitely stay at the Royal Rose Hotel Shuang Cheng Hall again.
It is important to note that this hotel serves many other locations in Taipei. This hotel is referred as Royal Rose Hotel Shuangcheng Hall or Royal Rose Hotel Twin Halls. Our first taxi trip took us to their other location and was an inconvenient start to our trip!
